For the past three years, Uriel Cano has been part of the JFK community as a Library Media Center Assistant. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro and previous experience in administrative areas, joining JFK marked his first role in an educational setting. This new stage has allowed him to discover unique learnings and a special connection with students.
Uriel especially enjoys being surrounded by children, whom he describes as multifaceted, funny, tender, and authentic. He shares that they have taught him patience, resilience, and the importance of living in the present, often reminding him—without even realizing it—how valuable it is to appreciate what we have and move forward with joy.
What he values most about his work in the library is the opportunity to build trust with students. Sometimes, they see him as a safe space; whether it’s helping them find a book, talking about video games, or simply listening, Uriel strives to connect with them on their level and create meaningful interactions.
Among his favorite projects, he highlights Library Week, especially the year when short plays were performed. Seeing the students’ joy and surprise at discovering the staff behind the characters was, for him, a magical experience.
Beyond his library duties, Uriel contributes his artistic and musical side to school life. He has acted in a short film that won first place in a state competition and enjoys playing the guitar, always open to supporting creative initiatives. For him, contributing goes beyond administrative skills—it is also about enriching the community through art, music, and play, and creating memorable experiences for children.
Working at JFK has also been a personal journey. Uriel explains that the positive environment has helped him heal, grow, and learn in many ways. “This experience has been very special,” he concludes.
Desde hace tres años, Uriel Cano forma parte de la comunidad JFK como Asistente en el Library Media Center. Con una Licenciatura en Administración de Empresas por la Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro y experiencia en áreas administrativas, su llegada al ámbito escolar marcó su primera experiencia en un entorno educativo. Esta nueva etapa le ha permitido descubrir aprendizajes únicos y una conexión especial con los alumnos.
Uriel disfruta especialmente estar rodeado de niños, a quienes describe como multifacéticos, divertidos, tiernos y auténticos. “Me han enseñado paciencia, resiliencia y la importancia de vivir el presente”, comenta, destacando cómo incluso sin darse cuenta, los alumnos transmiten lecciones de vida valiosas.
Lo que más valora de su trabajo en la biblioteca es la posibilidad de generar vínculos de confianza con los alumnos. “A veces me ven como un espacio seguro; ya sea ayudándolos a encontrar un libro, conversando sobre videojuegos o simplemente escuchándolos, intento conectar con ellos a su nivel”, explica.
Entre sus proyectos favoritos menciona la Library Week, particularmente el año en que presentaron pequeñas obras de teatro. Para él, fue una experiencia mágica ver la alegría y sorpresa de los niños al descubrirlos detrás de los personajes.
Además de su labor en el Library Media Center, Uriel aporta su lado artístico y musical a la vida escolar. Ha participado en un cortometraje ganador de un concurso estatal y disfruta tocar la guitarra, siempre abierto a sumarse a iniciativas creativas. “Me gusta contribuir no solo con mis habilidades administrativas, sino también a través del arte, la música y el juego; se trata de crear experiencias memorables para los niños”, afirma.
Trabajar en el JFK ha significado también un proceso de crecimiento personal. “El buen ambiente que se vive aquí me ha ayudado a sanar y aprender mucho. Esta experiencia ha sido muy especial en muchos sentidos”, concluye Uriel.
