Last October, 9th grade students took part in their class trip to New York, a meaningful academic and cultural experience.
Throughout the trip, students had the opportunity to enjoy a bike ride through Central Park, stop by the lake where The Angel of the Waters is located, and visit the iconic Imagine mosaic, which pays tribute to the legendary John Lennon. They also visited the United Nations, where they were able to witness a live session.
A visit to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island was a must, as well as a tour of Wall Street, where students received an overview of how the global economy functions. They also visited Ground Zero and the 9/11 Memorial Museum, an experience that allowed them to reflect on the events of September 11 and honor the memory of its victims.
Students crossed the Brooklyn Bridge on foot and enjoyed a meal in DUMBO, one of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods. The itinerary also included Fifth Avenue, where they did some shopping, and the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Broadway, where they were impressed by the magnificent screens and lights of Times Square.
Among the highlights of the trip were visits to the Edge and the Empire State Building, as well as the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) and MoMA, where students participated in a fun and engaging rally.
A key component of the trip was the community service activity carried out at a daycare center in the Harlem neighborhood, which many students considered the most meaningful and impactful experience of the journey.
Students stayed at a hotel in Manhattan, which allowed them to explore the city on foot and use the subway, including several visits to the iconic Grand Central Station.
Overall, this trip was filled with enriching experiences and valuable learning opportunities that students will surely remember for a lifetime.

El pasado mes de octubre, los alumnos de 9.º grado realizaron su viaje de generación a Nueva York, una experiencia académica y cultural significativa.
Durante el viaje, los alumnos tuvieron la oportunidad de recorrer Central Park en bicicleta, hacer una parada en el lago donde se encuentra The Angel of the Waters y visitar el icónico mosaico de Imagine, que rinde homenaje al legendario John Lennon. Asimismo, visitaron la Organización de las Naciones Unidas, donde pudieron presenciar una sesión en vivo.
La visita a la Estatua de la Libertad y Ellis Island fue una parada obligatoria, al igual que el recorrido por Wall Street, donde recibieron una explicación sobre el funcionamiento de la economía mundial. También visitaron Zona Cero y el Memorial Museum, un espacio que les permitió conocer los hechos del 9/11 y reflexionar sobre la importancia de honrar la memoria de sus víctimas.
Los alumnos cruzaron a pie el Puente de Brooklyn y disfrutaron de una comida en DUMBO, una de las zonas más representativas de la ciudad. El recorrido incluyó también Fifth Avenue, donde realizaron algunas compras, y el cruce de la Séptima Avenida y Broadway, donde quedaron asombrados por las imponentes pantallas y anuncios de Times Square.
Entre las experiencias más destacadas se encuentran la visita al Edge y al Empire State Building, así como al MET y al MoMA, donde participaron en un rally que hizo la experiencia aún más dinámica y enriquecedora.
Un componente fundamental del viaje fue el servicio social realizado en una guardería del barrio de Harlem, considerada por muchos como la experiencia más significativa y sensible del recorrido.
Los alumnos se hospedaron en un hotel en Manhattan, lo que les permitió desplazarse a pie y utilizar el subway, visitando en diversas ocasiones la emblemática estación Grand Central.
Sin duda, este viaje estuvo lleno de experiencias formativas y aprendizajes valiosos que los alumnos recordarán a lo largo de su vida.
