During the first Unit of Inquiry, SWAS third-grade students explored topics related to space, inventions, and the scientists whose ingenuity and curiosity have allowed us to learn more about the universe.
Through readings, experiments, and creative activities, students discovered how ideas can transform the world and open the doors to new knowledge. As part of this learning journey, each child became an inventor and designed a device intended to improve astronauts’ lives. They collected materials, built prototypes, prepared informational posters, and wrote about their experience as inventors.
The final exhibition, Invention Convention, represented the action stage of the inquiry cycle—a meaningful moment to share what they had learned, apply their knowledge, and communicate their ideas to others.
Fourth- and fifth-grade SWAS students visited the classroom to listen to the presentations, ask questions, and appreciate the work of our young inventors.
It was a memorable and inspiring experience in which students felt proud of their achievements, demonstrating that creativity, curiosity, and teamwork can take us… to infinity and beyond!

Durante la primera Unidad de Indagación, los alumnos de tercero de SWAS exploraron temas relacionados con el espacio, las invenciones y los científicos cuya creatividad y curiosidad nos han permitido conocer más sobre el universo.
A través de lecturas, experimentos y actividades creativas, los alumnos descubrieron cómo las ideas pueden transformar el mundo y abrir las puertas al conocimiento. Como parte de este proceso de aprendizaje, cada niño se convirtió en inventor y diseñó un dispositivo para mejorar la vida de los astronautas. Reunieron materiales, construyeron prototipos, prepararon carteles informativos y escribieron sobre su experiencia como inventores.
La exhibición final, llamada Invention Convention, representó la etapa de acción del ciclo de indagación: un momento significativo para compartir lo aprendido, aplicar sus conocimientos y comunicar sus ideas a los demás.
Los alumnos de cuarto y quinto de SWAS visitaron el salón para escuchar las presentaciones, hacer preguntas y apreciar el trabajo de nuestros jóvenes inventores.
Fue una experiencia memorable e inspiradora en la que los alumnos se sintieron orgullosos de sus logros, demostrando que la creatividad, la curiosidad y el trabajo en equipo pueden llevarnos… ¡al infinito y más allá!
