Since her arrival at JFK during the Halloween celebration in October 2023, Isabel has made a lasting impression with her enthusiasm and collaborative spirit. With a degree in Strategic Communication and a minor in International Business from the University of Arkansas (Querétaro Campus), Isabel is part of the Institutional Development team, where she supports a variety of projects that blend design, sustainability, community engagement, and a lot of heart.
“I originally applied for the Marketing and Communications department, but I ended up in Institutional Development—and I’m so glad I did,” Isabel shares. “This department allows me to be involved in areas I’ve always been passionate about, like design, backstage theater, and environmental topics. Also, since I’m a restless person, there are always new challenges here that keep me growing, both professionally and personally.”
Before joining JFK, Isabel worked at Dale Carnegie (Querétaro and New York), in advertising agencies, and even with a second-division soccer team. She was also a freelancer and designer—experience that she now applies to the many projects she’s involved in at school.
One of her favorite activities is the Ecoclub, which has transformed her view of the environment: “I was always familiar with the topic, but being part of the Ecoclub made me realize how much more I still have to learn. I’m incredibly inspired by the students I work with there. They have a very special way of seeing the world, and they motivate me to take action and keep learning.”
Her work has led her to build deep connections with different sectors of the school community. One of the stories she treasures most happened during the Dress a Child campaign: “During the donation drive, several kids came up to help and decided to dedicate their recess every day to it. The girls brought hair ties, perfume, and combs to fix up the dolls, and the boys even learned how to braid hair. On delivery day, one of the children receiving a gift hugged me and said, ‘Jamodi ndhunti,’ which means ‘infinite thanks’ in Otomi. I almost cried—and I don’t usually cry.”
When she talks about her daily life at JFK, Isabel highlights the support system and team spirit as essential to her motivation: “Feeling the support of my team, of MarCom, of the academic section staff, of the volunteer moms… working in a team isn’t always easy, but here I’ve found people who make it feel like a breeze. That makes me want to get up every day and come to work.”
Her relationship with students is also special: “It’s fun, empathetic, and built on trust. I work with kids of all ages and I do my best to make everyone feel included. They inspire me with their passion and energy. I realized that just as I see them as role models, they might see me the same way. That pushes me to always give my best.”
With strong values like empathy, commitment, and innovation, Isabel aims to create a positive impact within the JFK community. And just in case you run into her in the hallways, there’s one thing you should know: “If you see me, tell me a joke.”
Desde su llegada al JFK en plena celebración de Halloween en octubre de 2023, Isabel ha dejado huella por su entusiasmo y su espíritu colaborativo. Con formación en Comunicación Estratégica y un minor en Negocios Internacionales por la Universidad de Arkansas (Campus Querétaro), Isabel forma parte del equipo de Desarrollo Institucional, donde apoya una variedad de proyectos que combinan diseño, sustentabilidad, trabajo en comunidad y mucho corazón.
“Aplicaba para el área de Marketing and Communications, pero terminé en Desarrollo Institucional, y qué bueno que fue así”, cuenta Isabel. “Este departamento me permite involucrarme en áreas que siempre me han apasionado, como el diseño, el teatro detrás de escena, y temas ambientales. Además, como soy una persona inquieta, aquí siempre hay nuevos retos que me motivan a seguir creciendo, tanto profesional como personalmente.”
Antes de unirse al JFK, Isabel trabajó en Dale Carnegie (Querétaro y Nueva York), en agencias de publicidad, y hasta para un equipo de fútbol de segunda división. También fue freelancer y diseñadora, experiencia que hoy aplica en los múltiples proyectos en los que participa dentro de la escuela.
Entre sus actividades favoritas se encuentra el Ecoclub, que ha transformado su forma de ver el medio ambiente: “Siempre estuve familiarizada con el tema, pero ser parte del Ecoclub me hizo darme cuenta de todo lo que aún me falta por aprender. Me inspiran muchísimo los alumnos con los que convivo ahí. Tienen una forma muy especial de ver el mundo, y me motivan a tomar acción y seguir aprendiendo.”
Su trabajo la ha llevado a formar conexiones profundas con distintos sectores de la comunidad escolar. Una de las anécdotas que más atesora surgió durante la campaña de Dress a Child: “Durante la colecta, varios niños se acercaron a ayudar y decidieron que todos los días en su recreo lo dedicarían a eso. Las niñas llevaban ligas, perfume y peines para arreglar a las muñecas, y los niños hasta aprendieron a hacer trenzas. El día de la entrega, uno de los niños beneficiarios, me abrazó y me dijo ‘Jamodi ndhunti’, que significa ‘infinitas gracias’ en otomí. Casi me hace llorar, y eso que yo no lloro.”
Cuando habla de su día a día en el JFK, Isabel menciona la red de apoyo y el espíritu de equipo que ha encontrado como parte esencial de su motivación: “Sentir el respaldo de mi equipo, de MarCom, del staff de las secciones académicas, de las mamás voluntarias… trabajar en equipo no siempre es fácil, pero aquí he encontrado personas que lo hacen parecer un paseo. Y eso me hace levantarme todos los días con ganas de venir a trabajar.”
Su relación con los alumnos también es especial: “Es divertida, empática y de confianza. Trabajo con niños de todas las edades y me esfuerzo por que todos se sientan incluidos. Ellos me inspiran con su pasión y energía. Me di cuenta que, así como yo los veo como modelos a seguir, ellos podrían verme igual a mí. Eso me impulsa a dar siempre lo mejor de mí.”
Con valores sólidos como la empatía, el compromiso y la innovación, Isabel busca generar un impacto positivo en la comunidad JFK. Y, por si te la encuentras en los pasillos, hay algo que debes saber: “Si me ves, cuéntame un chiste.”
