The Student Council role

Around the
world, many students join a group that allows them to share their voice. It is
a group that, at the beginning of every school year, starts with the energy
that only a teenager can have. It is a group that knows the students’ opinions
are important. Yes, all this is about the Student Council.

For some
years, JFK has had the opportunity to see the great ideas and creativity of
Middle School Students. Some think belonging to the Student Council in Middle
School has helped them with their abilities. “STUCO helped me to develop
some communication and listening to others.” (Gala, 8th grade). “In
my case, STUCO helped me to improve my social skills.” (Amanda, 9th
grade).

It is
pleasing to provide a space for students where students can communicate openly
and also where they can develop empathy and leadership by sharing the ideas of
those peers they represent while working together to create projects that
benefit, include, and entertain the student population as a whole. Furthermore,
the Student Council is the model of a healthy relationship between students and
school authorities. This teamwork shows the school community that by working
with school authorities, students are valued, cared for, listened to, and
accompanied throughout their time at school.

So do not
hesitate to experience how belonging to the Student Council can positively
affect your life!
