Patricia Treviño has been part of the JFK community since 2013, bringing passion, curiosity, and a strong belief in purposeful technology to every learning space. As Educational Technology Coordinator K–12, she works hand in hand with students and teachers to make technology an engaging, meaningful, and accessible tool—one that supports creativity, equity, and authentic learning across all grade levels.
Paty’s journey into Educational Technology began in the classroom. While teaching Mathematics and Design, she witnessed firsthand how digital tools could transform complex concepts into accessible, engaging learning experiences. This impact inspired her to deepen her expertise through a Master’s Degree in Educational Competencies, with a strong focus on technological and digital skills.
“Seeing how digital tools made learning more interactive and accessible motivated me to specialize, so I could positively impact more students,” she shares.
Before joining JFK, Patricia worked as a Mathematics and Technology teacher at another school in Querétaro and also participated in construction and expo design projects for the industry. These diverse experiences strengthened her belief in digital inclusion, adaptability, and the power of technology to create practical and equitable solutions—even when resources are limited.
Her arrival at JFK marked the beginning of a long-term commitment to the school’s innovative vision. Starting as a Middle School Mathematics teacher, Paty was drawn to JFK’s K–12 approach, multicultural community, and commitment to professional growth: “I wanted to be part of a community that values innovation and meaningful impact on students’ daily learning,” she explains.
Today, she leads the implementation and continuous development of the K–12 technology and design curriculum, promotes effective digital tools among faculty, and oversees interdisciplinary projects aligned with the IB Design Cycle and STEM-based learning. Under her leadership, the department has evolved to manage digital resources more equitably across divisions and to build a cohesive ecosystem that supports hands-on, interdisciplinary learning. This growth includes the expansion of cybersecurity initiatives in collaboration with Student Support Services and the development of new learning spaces, such as the upcoming High School Maker Space.
Patricia firmly believes that Educational Technology plays a key role in preparing students for the future. From interactive apps in Kindergarten to advanced simulations and modeling in High School, technology helps personalize learning while fostering autonomy, creativity, and critical thinking. The department also places strong emphasis on responsible digital citizenship, offering cybersecurity talks, media literacy instruction, and guided discussions on ethical and critical uses of AI.
Among the projects she is most proud of are the Elementary School Design Lab, widely embraced by students from 2nd to 5th grade, and the continued evolution of the High School Maker Space, which will soon operate at full capacity.
For Patricia, technology is never the goal—it’s the means. As she reminds students and families: “Technology is not the end goal, but a meaningful bridge to discovery. Use it with critical curiosity to create, collaborate, and grow. Together at JFK, we integrate it to prepare future-ready leaders.”
Through her work, Paty continues to inspire our community to see technology not just as a tool, but as an opportunity—one that empowers students to learn with confidence, think critically, and shape the future with purpose.
Patricia Treviño forma parte de la comunidad JFK desde 2013, aportando pasión, curiosidad y una firme convicción en el uso intencional de la tecnología en cada espacio de aprendizaje. Como Coordinadora de Tecnología Educativa K–12, trabaja de la mano con alumnos y maestros para que la tecnología sea una herramienta atractiva, significativa y accesible, que fomente la creatividad, la equidad y el aprendizaje auténtico en todos los niveles.
El camino de Paty hacia la Tecnología Educativa comenzó en el aula. Mientras impartía clases de Matemáticas y Diseño, fue testigo de cómo las herramientas digitales podían transformar conceptos complejos en experiencias de aprendizaje más accesibles y dinámicas. Este impacto la motivó a profundizar su formación a través de una maestría en Competencias Educativas, con un fuerte enfoque en la competencia tecnológica y digital.
“Ver cómo las herramientas digitales hacían el aprendizaje más interactivo y accesible me motivó a especializarme, para poder impactar positivamente a más alumnos”, comparte.
Antes de integrarse a JFK, Patricia trabajó como docente de Matemáticas y Tecnología en otra escuela de Querétaro, además de participar en proyectos de construcción y montaje de exposiciones para la industria. Estas experiencias diversas fortalecieron su convicción sobre la inclusión digital, la adaptabilidad y el poder de la tecnología para generar soluciones prácticas y equitativas, incluso cuando los recursos son limitados.
Su llegada a JFK marcó el inicio de un compromiso a largo plazo con la visión innovadora de la escuela. Comenzando como maestra de Matemáticas en Middle School, Paty se sintió atraída por el enfoque K–12 de JFK, su comunidad multicultural y su compromiso con el crecimiento profesional: “Quería formar parte de una comunidad que valora la innovación y el impacto significativo en el aprendizaje cotidiano de los alumnos”, explica.
Actualmente, lidera la implementación y el desarrollo continuo del currículo de tecnología y diseño K–12, promueve el uso efectivo de herramientas digitales entre el profesorado y supervisa proyectos interdisciplinarios alineados con el Ciclo de Diseño del IB y el aprendizaje basado en STEM. Bajo su liderazgo, el departamento ha evolucionado para administrar los recursos digitales de manera más equitativa entre secciones y construir un ecosistema integral que favorece el aprendizaje práctico e interdisciplinario. Este crecimiento incluye la expansión de iniciativas de ciberseguridad en colaboración con Student Support Services y el desarrollo de nuevos espacios de aprendizaje, como el próximo Maker Space de High School.
Paty está convencida de que la Tecnología Educativa desempeña un papel clave en la preparación de los alumnos para el futuro. Desde aplicaciones interactivas en Pre School hasta simulaciones y modelos avanzados en High School, la tecnología permite personalizar el aprendizaje al tiempo que fomenta la autonomía, la creatividad y el pensamiento crítico. El departamento también pone un fuerte énfasis en el uso responsable de la tecnología, ofreciendo pláticas de ciberseguridad, alfabetización mediática y espacios de reflexión guiada sobre el uso ético y crítico de la inteligencia artificial.
Entre los proyectos de los que se siente más orgullosa se encuentran el Design Lab de Elementary School, ampliamente adoptado por alumnos de 2.º a 5.º grado, y la evolución continua del Maker Space de High School, que próximamente estará operando a su máxima capacidad.
Para Patricia, la tecnología nunca es el objetivo final, sino el medio. Como recuerda a alumnos y familias: “La tecnología no es un fin, sino un puente significativo hacia el descubrimiento. Úsenla con curiosidad crítica para crear, colaborar y crecer. Juntos, en JFK, la integramos para formar líderes preparados para el futuro”.
A través de su trabajo, Paty continúa inspirando a nuestra comunidad a ver la tecnología no solo como una herramienta, sino como una oportunidad que empodera a los alumnos para aprender con confianza, pensar de manera crítica y construir el futuro con propósito.
