Queretaro, Mexico—This 17 and 18 of October, schools around all of Queretaro have gathered in the JFK American School of Queretaro for a Model United Nations conference concerning different world problems. This event has been organized into various committees, each representing and digging into the bones of technical past and present world issues. Some of the topics students have been digging into are: General Assembly: The geopolitical tensions that arose from the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. IAEA: Nuclear Waste: Lessons from the aftermath of the 2011 Fukushima Incident & prevention.

UNHCR: Discussing the need of response to address the current South-American Migration Crisis. UNDP: Strengthening Democratic Governance and Accountability. Also, UNCAC is addressing the current political situation in Venezuela. UN WOMEN:  Taliban’s restrictions on women’s basic rights in Afghanistan. UNOOSA:  How to prevent large-scale violent events, such as mass murders.
Students came together to represent delegations for countries involved in this, such as Cuba, the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Russia, USA, Luxembourg, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, China, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland and others, took part in the negotiation and discussion that revisited and further analyzed each topic given, with over 100 students participating overall.

Discussing historical or current problems and how they could be overcome, this has helped young people to develop ways of thinking, communication and research skills, and having basic knowledge in relation to the world.
