During the first week of November, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Lisbon as part of my CAS activities (Community, Action, Service) with 11 classmates and 2 teachers.
From the moment we arrived, I noticed the cultural diversity of the group we would be sharing this experience with: students from Saudi Arabia, Romania, the United States, and, of course, us as representatives of Mexico.
Throughout the trip, we participated in a variety of activities designed to connect us with both Lisbon’s culture and those of our fellow participants.
Among the most memorable experiences was a scavenger hunt in the beautiful gardens of Sintra, a stunning town surrounded by nature that we visited on a day trip. We also had the chance to surf and clean up trash on the beach, walk with a migrant through a local neighborhood, interview residents to understand their perspectives on how to improve their community, spend time with grandmothers in a creative space, and collect trash in a forest, among many other fun and dynamic activities.
From all these activities, I gained valuable lessons: the importance of keeping an open mind to understand and appreciate other cultures, the significance of leaving a positive mark wherever you go, and the value of helping others regardless of the place or circumstances. I also learned how to travel differently—more consciously and in deeper connection with people and the environment.
This trip not only taught me profound lessons but also allowed me to have fun and create unforgettable friendships. I fondly remember walking through the streets of Lisbon, chatting and laughing with friends from the United States. This experience will undoubtedly stay with me forever.
Mi experiencia CAS en Lisboa

Durante la primera semana de noviembre, tuve la increíble oportunidad de viajar a Lisboa como parte de mis actividades CAS (Community, Action, Service), con 11 compañeros y 2 maestras.
Desde el momento en que llegamos, me di cuenta de la diversidad cultural del grupo con el que compartiríamos la experiencia: alumnos de Arabia Saudita, Rumania, Estados Unidos, y nosotros como representantes de México.
A lo largo del viaje, realizamos una variedad de actividades diseñadas para conectarnos tanto con la cultura de Lisboa como con las de nuestros compañeros.
Entre las experiencias más memorables estuvo un scavenger hunt en los hermosos jardines de Sintra, un pueblo hermoso en medio de la naturaleza al que fuimos en un day trip. También tuvimos la oportunidad de surfear y recoger basura en la playa; caminamos con un migrante por un barrio local; entrevistamos a residentes para conocer sus perspectivas sobre cómo mejorar la zona; convivimos con abuelitas en un espacio creativo, y recogimos basura en un bosque, entre muchas otras actividades muy padres y dinámicas.
De todas estas actividades aprendí valiosas lecciones: la importancia de mantener una mente abierta para comprender y apreciar otras culturas, la relevancia de dejar una huella positiva donde sea que estés, y el valor de ayudar sin importar el lugar o las circunstancias. Aprendí también a viajar de una manera diferente, más consciente y conectada con las personas y el entorno.
Este viaje no solo me dejó aprendizajes profundos, sino que también me permitió divertirme y formar amistades inolvidables. Recuerdo con cariño los momentos en que caminábamos por las calles de Lisboa, platicando y riendo con compañeros de Estados Unidos. Esta experiencia, sin duda, será algo que llevaré conmigo siempre.
