Originally from Japan, Miss Yuko Murasawa has been an integral part of the JFK community for 11 years. Her journey began in Kinder 2, where she spent her first two years teaching. For the past eight and a half years, she has dedicated herself to the Kinder 3 program, bringing her passion for education and cultural diversity to the classroom.
With a background in Early Childhood Education and a focus on the study of Spain and Latin America, Miss Yuko brings a unique perspective to her teaching. She believes that one of the most important qualities of a preschool teacher is the ability to play and enjoy the process of learning alongside her students. Her teaching philosophy centers on creating meaningful, joyful experiences that resonate with young learners.
Inclusivity is at the heart of Miss Yuko’s approach. She makes an effort to welcome students from different countries by greeting them in their native language and incorporating games that do not require proficiency in Spanish or English. Through these simple yet thoughtful gestures, she ensures every child feels valued and included in the classroom.
“What I like the most about working at JFK is the learning environment, the children are free to express themselves, the expansive green garden that provides ample space for exploration and play, and the sense of camaraderie within the Preschool team, both professional and family-like”, explains Miss Yuko.
Miss Yuko’s students often remember her for the cultural enrichment she brings to the classroom. She introduces them to Japanese values, teaches them a few Japanese words, and even shows them how to write their names in Japanese.
