A message from the Anti Bullying Committee:
Welcome back
The antibullying committee has reunited over
the past months to revise and refocus the purpose of it. We would like to
inform the JFK community of the alignment we’ve written so we can practice upon
it.
At JFK, the ABC Anti Bullying committee is
committed to fostering a school environment where honesty, responsibility and
respect thrive. The committee’s mission is to proactively create beauty in our
school community by preventing bullying behaviors and achieving the
extraordinary by nurturing a culture of kindness and inclusion.
Core Values within the ABC committee
- Honesty: We pledge to be transparent in our
efforts to address bullying, ensuring open and honest communication with all
stakeholders. - Responsibility: We take responsibility for the
wellbeing of the students, staff, and the school community, actively working to
prevent bullying through education and intervention. - Respect: We promote a culture of respect,
valuing the unique qualities and perspectives of each individual within the
diverse community.
Bullying is demonstrated in actions, lack of
actions, misused and hurtful words, written, oral or online. It affects
millions of lives and can leave people feeling hopeless. That’s why this year
the anti bullying world wide motto is “Make a noise about bullying”. When we
raise our brave voice, when someone else hears our loud jaguar roar we are
challenged therefore we are changing.
Too often, we are silent when we see bullying
take place, silent about the hurt bullying causes, and silent when we hear
bullying dismissed as ‘just banter’.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Of course, we won’t like everyone and we don’t
always agree, but we can choose respect and unity.
This Anti-Bullying Week let’s come together to
have discussions about what bullying means to us, how banter can turn into
something more hurtful, and what we can do to stop bullying. Together, we can
make a difference and take a stand against bullying.
From the playground to our classroom, and from
our phones to our homes, let’s make a noise about bullying.
Remember if you are
aware of bullying behavior, you can report anonymously using our JFK web page or
you can come directly to us, the more information we have the better we can
act.
We will promote our theme “Make noise about
bullying” during the school year, and we will be celebrating our anti-bullying
week on November 13 – 17. In the coming
weeks we will be sending you more information on how you can help us spread the
word and help make bullying something that is not acceptable in our school!
We will be sending more information on how you
can support the community.
If you have any ideas
we invite you to share them with us. You can contact us by writing an email to
